CROSSVILLE, TN., August 31, 2023. Members of the 49th Annual Fairfield Glade Ladies Invitational Golf Tournament committee met Monday, August 28 in the Art Circle Public Library Children’s Reading Room to present a total of $14,000 to Denise Melton, House of Hope; Beth Chase, Support The Arts STARTS; Emily Breeding, Cumberland County Schools Family Resource Center; and James Houston, Imagination Library.
The funds will support the charities’ ongoing local projects and programs. The ladies agreed that the funds will make a real difference to the children of Cumberland County.
The tournament, held Saturday, July 8 and Sunday, July 9, 2023, was a great success, with 217 players participating from nine states. Top winners were Sharon Kelly (Knoxville) Overall Low Gross Flights 1-3; Marty Wennermark (Fairfield Glade) Overall Low Gross Flights 4-6; Sandie Ballie (Fairfield Glade) Overall Low Net Flights 1-3; and Lauri Speckmann (Fairfield Glade) Overall Low Net Flights 4-6. $6,000 in prizes were paid across six flights plus ten special prizes were awarded, including two diamond rings generously provided by our long-time supporter Jerry Phillips of JP Jewelry. We cherish Jerry’s decades-long support of our tournament and wish him (and Lisa) a very happy retirement!
